Aunty.....

I was called 'AUNTY' twice in two consecutive days. 'Lei war sei mm sei'. Mind you those two people are not kids. If kids, I don't mind lar. They are in the early twenties or late teen, I guess.

The first time happended on Saturday. I just shrugged it off thinking that I heard it wrongly. But, the second time was loud and clear. I was at Jusco checking out the price of MamyPoko and this sales girl told me there's a discount, etc. etc. I said 'Ok, I will take one packet'. Then right before I leave that place, she said 'AUNTY, CAN YOU FILL UP THIS FORM?'. What the he*k.....If you want to be polite, just call 'MISS' lar. My heart was cursing but still managed to put up a smile and 'guai guai' fill up the bl**dy form. After that, I told hubby, 'She called me AUNTY' wor. No comments from hubby, just a smile.

that's why lar...luckily there were no other people around in that isle when it happened.

if she ever called me aunty before i took the packet, I would definitely leave empty handed.

Sasha,
I hope I 'kena' bcoz I have kids and not that I look old (pretty worried). But slowly, later, somehow, I will learn to accept this.

i kena also and sometimes by OLDER people! can u believe that???! what the..!

Husband tried comforting me by saying that for some people, that's the way to show respect; by calling us by a certain "older" title. but AUNTY??!

etc-mom,
hahahahaha...that's a big blow. you sure don't deserve this and yes, i agree-no ang pow for them this year

jazzmint,
phew! so, it's normal lar?

babybooned,
i thought you should only address a person as 'aunty' if she is much much older than you. arghhhh...how can you address someone younger than you as 'aunty'? i still don't get it.

hubs always laughed at me when ppl called me "aunty" and yes...i'm getting used to it already..haha..don't worry...u still looked young. I guess she called u aunty because u are already a "mother", not that u looked old...

suddenly i remember an incident when i was fetching my daughter from the nursery. one of the lil' boys asked me, "auntie, why are you still wearing a batman t-shirt?..kita pun ada satu tau!"..;-P
...haha..you know me lah..mummy yg rugged who also happens to be a comic freak...bila that boy cakap mcm tu, baru la i perasan yg i am dah tua..(psstt..kalau la that boy nampak my batman & wolverine figures...)..heheh

kakakaka! that boy must be thinking that this aunty steal the t-shirt from her daughter.

oh, i remember those little figurines on your pc and the poster too.
