Buying Furniture Online

This is a sponsored post.

We bought a set of micro fibre living room furniture when we moved into our current home about 3 years ago and I think it's still in a good condition. However, given the chance to choose again, I will go for the leather ones because it's easier to clean. I think shopping for furniture is very tiring and tedious because you just have to drag yourself to the shops to look at it, feel it, check out the prices, make sure the measurements are right, etc. etc. before deciding on which one to buy.

I like to check things out from the websites to get a rough idea on the designs and prices before going out to the shops so that I know what to look for when I'm out there. A good website like furniturefromhome.com is what I need. Apart from getting to look at the furniture from the photos on the website, it also gives all the important details on the furniture like prices, sizes and materials. They offer online sales too, which is very convenient for the lazy or busy people. It makes shopping so easy and hassle free. A wide range of furniture is offered including bedroom furniture, home office furniture, dining room furniture and other sectional items such as sofas. I think you can find all types of furniture you need for a home from the website.

Little Poser

15 months & 5 days old.....

The photo was taken yesterday when we were about to go out. While I was preparing Ethan's stuff, hubby kept an eye on Ethan. Then, he taught Ethan how to put his hands into the pockets and the little one found it amusing. He just stand there and kept on smiling at hubby as if he's really posing for the camera. Apa lagi...Hubby quickly grabbed the camera to capture the precious moment and when he pressed on the button, the battery died...hehehe, things you normally see on tv. So, I quickly changed the battery and took over camera, while hubby coached the little model.

15 Months

Hmmmm…..Ethan is already 15 months old. When I looked back at the photos when he was a newborn, I miss the days when I hold him in my arms as a tiny baby. All he did was sleep and drink and cry of course. Now, he crawls, he walks (like a zombie), he babbles, scolds us, throws tantrum, pretend to cry and what not. Thinking back, it was not that difficult taking care of a newborn compared to a toddler. Wonder what comes next.

He has picked up quite a few words from us. If I give him a piece of biscuit and say ‘ahmm’ he will put the whole thing in his mouth. But if I say ‘bite’ he will bite it bit by bit. When I asked him if he wants something, he will shake his head if it’s a 'no' but stare at me blankly if it’s a 'yes'. He doesn’t know how to nod his head yet.

His favourite words now are:
  • Bird = bird
  • Ball ball = ball/balloon
  • Book = books
  • EHPPPP! = not happy
Other than that, he will babble in his own baby language, which we don't understand.

In terms of weight, he is 10.2 kg now. Weight gain was very slow for the last few months.

I have started to feed him rice since 2 months back but only give him once a week or less. He was sick so often lately, so I just gave him porridge when he was not well.

I'm also giving him supplements (cod’s liver oil & Colostrum) on a daily basis now in the hope of boosting his immune system. I think it helps. (Touch wood lar) He is cleared of cough and cold for more than a month now ever since he started taking the supplements. But, he was down with fever once. I think his body needs some time to build up the immune system.

Car Ride

14 months, 3 weeks & 4 days old.....

No, not the car you see above.

I have been sending and fetching Ethan from the daycare everyday (except when I travel, hubby will take over) for about a year now. In the beginning, the car seat was placed in the front seat facing the rear so that it’s easier for me to monitor him. It’s also because my car doesn’t have air bags and it’s ok to do so. When he was older, I put him at the back seat facing the front so that there is more room for his legs. I can also put him in the front seat facing the front but I think the position is pretty vulnerable in case of an emergency brake.

When I first put him at the back seat, he will cry throughout the whole journey from the house to the day care, which only takes about 10 minutes. It can be very distracting listening to his cry while driving. Normally, I will just give him the pacifier to soothe him. Sometimes it worked but other times he just threw it away. Luckily it’s only a short drive. So, I just need something to distract him for a short while, like:
  • Children songs. It will calm him down. To enhance the effect, pacifier will help.
  • Sing along. He will keep quiet when he hear my voice.
  • Musical mobile for some hand exercise. He pulls it so hard as if he’s going to lift himself up from the car seat. Luckily, it’s still working after so many months.
  • Mini board book. Small enough for him to hold and easy to flip. Most importantly, it can keep his mouth busy, so that he will not cry. The down side is, it has to be replaced after sometime because the pages will be chewed off.
  • Soft book. To keep his mouth occupied also. Practically a waste of money because he can’t flip the pages as they are too soft. The only thing he did with it was chewing.
  • Bird! Just say ‘bird! see the bird outside?’ He will look outside the window looking for birds.

By the time all the above tasked have been performed, we will reach our destination. Not that difficult right?

As time goes by, Ethan has improved a lot in the sense that he can sit quietly in the car when I was driving. Pacifier + songs (from the CD player not me) will satisfy him most of the time. It’s a different story if I sit with him at the back when hubby is driving. He will cry until I free him from the car seat. Hubby always says ‘just let him cry and ignore him’ wor. It’s hard to do but sometimes I listen to his advice also, to discipline the little fella. And you know what? It works. One day when my mother was holding him at the back seat while I drove, Ethan just climbed to the car seat and sat there quietly until we reach our destination :-)

Tag: 08.08.08 (It's Also My 88th Post!)

Thanks to Malaika's mummy for this tag. What would I be doing on that day? Definitely not planning for a baby :-) I never plan so far ahead especially when it involves Ethan. I think I would be attending someone's wedding. If there are so many people getting married on 07.07.07, there are definitely more people getting married next year on 08.08.08. I think all the restaurants and hotels will be fully booked by now, especially from the Chinese. It's a super duperly auspicious date.

P/S: I just found out that this is also my 88th post.

EHPPP! (Updated With Video)

14 months, 2 weeks & 2 days old.....

Lately, whenever Ethan is angry, he will cry and end it with an angry tone. Pretty much like scolding people. He will cry WUAHH…WUAHH…WUAHH….EHPPPP! and pout his mouth. Both me and hubby will always laugh when he does it. Guess he is better at expressing himself now.

Whenever he’s doing something wrong like picking up dirt on the floor and put it into his mouth, I will tell him NO! sternly. Hubby said he followed what I did because he NEVER scold Ethan. Well, I cannot deny it. But, if I do not discipline him by telling him so, how else can I do it? …or WHO will do it?

Last night, all the three of us were chilling out on the bed and at the same time was tucking Ethan to bed. He has this habit of poking things with his pointer/index finger especially nostril and belly button. So, he was poking daddy’s belly button and daddy taught him to poke his own. Too bad, he cannot find it because his tummy was too big. So, daddy diverted his attention to me. Soon, the little one discovered that his mummy also has belly button and lift up my shirt to look for it. Aiyor, how to tahan ler. It was so ‘geli’. So, every time he pokes his finger in, I quickly pull down my shirt. He was not happy of course and again cried…EHPPP! After a few times, he also whack my face!
